The committees and its members are a valuable part of the NC SGMP team. Chapter members are strongly encouraged to join a committee. Those interested in joining a committee should contact the appropriate committee chair.

General Committee Duties (applies to all committees)

The following are the general expectations of committees and its members:
  1. Prepare a monthly activity report for Board (committee chair).
  2. Write and submit articles and other items for publication in the Chapter newsletter (as assigned by committee chairs)
  3. Actively assist and participate in SGMP.
  4. Attend at least 75% of Monthly Chapter Educational Lunch Meetings.

Communications & Publications

The Communications & Publications committee (C&P) is responsible for keeping chapter members informed and engaged through the creation and delivery of effective communications including but not limited to the chapter website and chapter newsletter.

The Communications & Publications committee duties include but are not limited to:
  1. Maintaining the Chapter website;
  2. Publishing and distributing the chapter newsletter and
  3. Maintaining accurate members e-mail list based on chapter membership roster and disseminating all pertinent information to the chapter via email

Community Services

Charity Selection

  1. It's recommended to support three (3) charities, one for each half of the year and the third being the National Charity for the Annual Conference.
  2. Select one (1) committee chair for each charity selected to assist you in organizing and executing the activities for each charity.
  3. Committee conference call to discuss charities the committee chair has researched and other options presented by the committee.

Honors & Awards Committee

The Honors & Awards committee is responsible for recognizing chapter members who have significantly contributed to the objectives of the SGMP and the Chapter as well as planning and executing an annual awards program to celebrate individual and chapter achievements. This committee is comprised of the Honors & Awards board liaison, co-chairs (at least one planner and one supplier) and additional committee members.

The Honors & Awards committee duties include but are not limited to:
  1. Managing all nominations and elections;
  2. Executing and managing the Planner and Supplier of the Month Awards process;
  3. Executing and managing the Planner and Supplier of the Year Awards process and
  4. Executing and managing the Chapter Scholarship.

Membership Committee

Chair: Carolyn Sellars CMP | csellars@wakemed.org

The Membership Committee is responsible for the major functions related to management of chapter membership. This includes ensuring and overseeing membership database maintenance, developing and implementing member recruitment and retention strategies, and employing and enhancing communication and outreach to promote members' involvement and connection to the chapter.

The Membership committee duties include but are not limited to:
  1. Managing Monthly Chapter Educational Lunch Meetings registration;
  2. Managing all on-site meeting and event details;
  3. Executing and overseeing membership procedures and
  4. Recruiting and retaining members.

Programs Committee

Chair: Chip Futrell CPP | chip_futrell@ncsu.edu

The Programs Committee is responsible for determining, establishing and promoting the educational programs of the chapter.

The Programs committee duties include but are not limited to:
  1. Soliciting proposals for sites for Monthly Chapter Educational Lunch Meetings, Mid-Year Winter Meeting & Silent Auction and Annual Meeting;
  2. Presenting educational programs to benefit both planners and suppliers; and
  3. Selecting and negotiating speakers for Monthly Chapter Educational Lunch Meetings; and
  4. Obtaining speaker gifts.

Special Events & Fundraising Committee

The Special Events & Fundraising Committeeis responsible the major fundraising aspects of the Chapter. The specifically plans, organizes and implements two events (Mid-Year Winter Meeting & Silent Auction and the Annual Meeting). The SEC is also responsible for soliciting vendors and sponsors for each event and .

The Special Events & Fundraising committee duties include but are not limited to:
  1. Soliciting vendors and sponsors for Mid-Year Winter Meeting & Silent Auction and the Annual Meeting;
  2. Collaborating closely with the Programs committee on location and content for special workshops and training sessions and
  3. Managing the Chapter's 50/50 Raffle.
